The Orchard Pilates and Movement Studio is a light, peaceful space surrounded by old apple trees on the edge of the small market town of Wirksworth in the Derbyshire Dales. It is well equipped with small Pilates apparatus and a Pilates reformer.

What is Pilates?
Joseph Pilates developed his movement technique over fifty years of experimentation and practise. It has been further refined over the last forty years by many great teachers in the UK, USA and the continent. Today it is recognised by many doctors and exercise professionals as being one of the most effective forms of exercise for help with conditions such as arthritis and back pain, as well as general fitness. Whatever age you are it is not too late to start!

I was taken to my first dancing class at the age of three by my despairing mother who hoped that doing something cheery with other children would conquer my shyness. It was a disaster. I could hardly get across the floor, so intimidating was the woman in black who taught the class.
However, when it was over, I insisted that I wanted to go again - and again. And so began my lifelong love of dance and movement.
Whilst training to dance in London I went to Pilates classes with Alan Herdman – one of the first teachers to bring Pilates to England from America. After a dance career involving work in London, Amsterdam, England and Wales, I trained to become a Pilates teacher with Pilates foundation master teacher Rachel Rafiefor in Derby in 2004. I am a member of the Pilates Union.
For the last eight years I’ve taught Pilates in Wirksworth, Derby, and the Derbyshire Dales, as well as teaching for organisations such as Fitfarm, Parwich Fit4All and Cantamus (multi award winning) Girls Choir.
I love to teach people to enjoy moving with ease and elegance and to become strong, supple, balanced, and pain-free.
